Vision Statement
Deeper Waters Church exists to cultivate a vibrant community of faith that dives deeper into God’s love, empowers believers to live out their purpose, and transforms lives through the Word of God and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, creating hope and healing in our world, as each believer ministers Christ on a daily basis.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Scriptures

The Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God and serves as our infallible guide for how to live and believe. (I Timothy 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21)

The Godhead

There is one God who exists in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:18-20)

Man, His Fall, and Redemption

Males and females are created in God's image, but through Adam's sin, all have sinned. Jesus came to redeem us by giving His life. We are spiritually dead and need God to draw us to Him. Only those who accept Christ and are born again will be saved. (Romans 5:12, 3:23-24, 1 John 3:8, Ephesians 2:1-9)

The New Birth

Being born again is essential for salvation. (John 3:3-5). One is born again the instant a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and accepts Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

Water Baptism

All who are born again must be baptized in water by immersion. Baptism is an act of obedience and symbolizes new life in Christ. (Romans 6:4)

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit baptism is a gift for believers, marked by speaking in tongues as the Spirit empowers. (Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:8, Acts 2, Rm.8:1-18, Eph.1:13)The baptism in the Spirit is to be differentiated from the indwelling of the Spirit that comes at the moment of salvation. The Spirit dwells in us and seals us the moment we put our faith in Jesus Christ. The baptism in the Spirit has nothing to do with salvation but is an empowering to carry on the supernatural ministry of Jesus in this world. Thus the initial indwelling of the Spirit relates to our salvation. The baptism of the Spirit concerns our service.

Divine Healing

God provides healing in the atonement through the stripes of Jesus. Healing through faith, prayer, the laying on of hands, and all other means of God created, God given, and God inspired wisdom, including that of medical science. (Isaiah 38:21, Mark 16:18, James 5:14-15)

Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is real and occupied a lot of Jesus’s ministry. Authority and power have been given to all believers to win every battle in their lives. Lu.10:17, Acts 1:8

Heaven and Hell

Heaven and Hell are real. The saved go to heaven, while the lost go to hell, and both are eternal. (Mark 16:15-16)

Rapture and Second Coming

Jesus will return to take believers to heaven (the rapture). Later, He will return to Earth to rule for a thousand years. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Communion

We celebrate Communion to remember Jesus' sacrifice. The bread represents His body, and the cup represents the new covenant in His blood. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

Laying on of Hands

Spiritual power can be passed from one person to another through the laying on of hands, a practice Jesus used. (Mark 10:13-16)

The Gospel

The gospel is the message of Jesus' virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, physical resurrection, and ascension. It is the only message that can transform hearts. (Rm.1:16, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Women in Ministry

Women can participate fully in ministry, including preaching and teaching, as they are called by God to serve. (Jn.14:12, Acts 2:17)

The Sanctify of Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.) We extend love and mercy to all who have ended a pregnancy and will help them with kindness and truth.

Marriage

Because God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself, [the Church] will only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman.

Sexuality and Gender

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman in the confines of marriage(1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Deeper Waters Church Inc.

                                 Should A Christian Celebrate Passover?

No, absolutely not!

As you can tell, I feel quite strongly about this issue.

Since the New Testament was established through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the true Lamb, there have always been those, often referred to as Judaizers, attempting to draw God’s children back into Old Testament practices. While their intentions may be sincere, they are sincerely mistaken. Much of the New Testament addresses the errors promoted by these Judaizers.

Now, regarding Passover: it is a religious observance celebrated by Jewish people who do not believe the Messiah has come. It symbolizes hope for a future arrival of the Messiah.

John states, “And the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near” (John 6:4). Here, Passover is described as a Jewish feast. Are you a Jewish person awaiting the Messiah?

A passage often cited to support the observance of Passover is 1 Corinthians 5:3-8:

“For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ, our Passover, has also been sacrificed. Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

This context highlights that significant sin had occurred in the Corinthian church. Paul refers to sin as leaven, warning that it spreads. However, he emphasizes that believers are a "new lump" and are unleavened because Christ, our Passover, has already been sacrificed. The celebration he mentions is about Christ Himself—He is the feast. We are to celebrate Him with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. There is nothing spoken of here that indicates that Paul is talking literally.

Christians do not celebrate Passover; we commemorate the Last Supper, which Jesus instituted as the New Covenant meal. This meal replaced Passover, as established by Jesus when He said:

“And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same way, He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood’” (Luke 22:19-20).

Celebrating Passover as a believer is disrespectful to Jesus and the feast He established.

Some argue that Passover and other feasts point to Jesus, and I agree—they do! However, Jesus is here with us now. We no longer need symbols pointing to Him because we have the reality and fulfillment in Him.

If I were to point towards downtown, I would extend my hand in that direction. But if I were already downtown, I wouldn’t need to point; I would simply be there.

We don’t need what points to Jesus; we have Jesus.

16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality. Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Col 2:16–17.
